Motorcycles and dirt bikes have been a large part of my life for years. Once my brother and father bought their first bike, I wanted one also. In 1980 at the age of 12, I saved and purchased my first dirt bike. It was a Kawasaki KDX 80.  I was instantly hooked.  As with everything in my life, I had to push it to the limit and be the best that I could be. Wanting to learn more and compete, I asked my parents for permission to race. Unfortunately, they said no due to cost. So for the next 4 years I rode in the woods and on a practice track I made in a field behind my house.

At the age of 16, I tested for my motorcycle license, purchased a Yamaha DT 125 and hung up my dirt riding. For the next 26 years, I focused on my teaching career (23 year teacher at Amherst Central Schools), home building, and family. Then at 42 a friend purchased a dirt bike and asked me if I wanted to ride. I was hooked again and have not looked back. For the past 9 years I have worked very hard to perfect the art of motocross.

As a teacher I am always breaking down learning into smaller sections for students to learn. This did not exist in motocross, so I created the Beginner MX School. I want students to learn MX through technique based instruction and not trial and error.
